Although some people are saying that money doesn’t bring happiness, it seems that this isn’t entirely true especially if you are wealthy enough like Aerosmith’s frontman Steven Tyler who placed an order on a Hennessey Venom GT Spyder. John Hennessey who is the founder of the company said that Tyler asked them if they could do a roadster version of the Venom GT. The answer to this question was obviously yes but for this to happen they had to make a few structural changes to the integrated rollcage so that they could install the removable top.
As a result to these changes, the curb weight of the vehicle increased by 30 lbs to 2,743 lbs (1,244 kg), but the great thing is that the engineers from Hennessey have managed to increase the output of the engine to 1,244 so the power to weight ratio was kept to 1 hp / kg.
The coupe version of the Venom GT unleashes no less than 1,200 hp (1217 PS / 895 kW) and an unbelievable peak torque of 1,155 lb.-ft (1,564 Nm), all coming from the mid-mounted, V8 6.2-liter twin-turbo engine which is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The car is able to do the 0-62 mph sprint in just 2.5 seconds, while the 0-200 mph target is achieved in only 15.3 seconds.
For the 2013 model year, Hennessey has planned to make five Venom GTs. The coupe version costs a whopping $950,000 (601,722 pounds / 745,098 Euro) while the Spyder has a starting price of $1.1 million (696,731 pounds / 862,745 Euro).
