The Spanish automaker Seat has finally arrived in China and with the occasion of the Beijing Motor Show they have unveiled a concept version of the upcoming Ibiza Cupra. The car is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI engine that pumps out 178 hp and it is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The chassis settings have remained the same as they were on the pre-facelift model, but the design is now much bolder, especially if we look at the car’s front end.
This concept features a new design of the front bumper, air intakes and the grille, which according to the company it makes the car have a lower and wider stance. The Ibiza Cupra sports LED DLRs, bi-xenon headlights, as well as cornering lights which have been integrated in those larger fog lamps.
The car is riding on 17-inch alloy wheels and wears an attractive Crono Yellow paint, along with a gloss black trim and an appealing exhaust that has a trapezoidal shape. Inside the cabin of the Seat Ibiza Cupra concept we notice the new design of the steering wheel which has the “Cupra” logo, along with a new yellow trim and a revised instrument panel. Some of the other goodies include the company’s Portable Media System and a new infotainment system as well.
The production version of the Seat Ibiza Cupra is scheduled to go on sale later on this year. Chinese customers are now able to buy the Leon model, while towards the end of 2012 Seat will also bring the Ibiza range. Seat announced back in 2011 that they plan on opening 15 dealerships, and already 8 of these dealerships have opened their doors for willing Chinese customers who want to drive home with a Seat.
