Why salt is important for winter roads

We use salt for making food taste better and also it makes our bodies stronger as the sodium that we get from salt allows nerves to send & receive electrical impulses, thus making our muscles stronger. There is more to salt than just these advantages, it literally saves lives and also prevents a considerable number of injuries each and every year.

This is the conclusion reached by the Marquette University as their study shows that when there’s ice on the road after a winter storm, de-icing the road by using salt will lower accidents by a whopping 88% and also injuries by 85%.

Let’s not forget about the financial component as when the snow combined with the ice make our roads impassable, state economies end up paying as much as $700 million a day, while using salt is very cheap and it deices the road in about half an hour or so.
