This has to be one of the most beautiful cars we’ve seen so far this year. It’s called the Puritalia 427 which manages to offer the perfect balance between the refinement of Italian cars and the power provided by American muscle cars. The automaker has its HQ in Naples and this new vehicle is based on the Shelby Cobra.
The car’s body is manufactured from composite and carbon fiber, borrowing styling cues from the ’65 Shelby Cobra, one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The Puritalia 427 was built on an aluminum frame chassis that has chromoly steel subframes in order to lower the curb weight and provide a maximum level of stiffness. As a result, the car weighs just 1,089 kg and has a perfect 50:50 weight distribution.
It is motivated by a V8 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine that is capable of producing 445 hp and a maximum torque of 530 Nm. There’s also a supercharged version available which can pump out no less than 605 hp and 640 Nm. That entire horsepower is sent to the wheels in the back through the 6-speed manual gearbox, aluminum driveshaft and the limited slip differential. The Puritalia 427 also had adjustable shock absorbers and an independent double wishbone suspension.
The braking system is provided by Brembo which offers 6-piston brakes with 380mm discs for the front wheels and 4-piston brakes with 345mm discs at the back. The sports car rolls on Pirelli 275/35R19 tires at the front and 335/30R20 for the rear.
