The new generation of the SL-Class has finally arrived in the UK dealerships and for this occasion the German automaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed the price list for the 6th generation of the superb luxury roadster. The cheapest version money can buy is the SL 350 which will set you back 72,495 pounds. This model makes use of a V6 engine, while a beefier V8 is powering the SL 500 model that carries a price tag of 83,445 pounds.
Later on this year Mercedes is going to bring the more powerful SL 63 AMG with 530 hp and the bad boy SL 65 AMG V12 which will churn 621 hp. The prices for these two models will be announced once the launch dates approach.
Getting back to that SL 350 model, it has a 3.5-liter V6 BlueDIRECT engine that can deliver 302 hp (306 PS) and a maximum torque of 273 lb.-ft (370 Nm). It needs 5.9 seconds to do the 0-62 mph sprint and can hit an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). With this engine, the SL 350 returns 37.7 mpg UK and has CO2 emissions of 176 g/km.
The more expensive SL 500 model features a bigger 5.0-liter V8 BlueDIRECT engine which unleashes 429 hp (435 PS) and 516 lb.-ft (700 Nm) of torque. This version weighs 3,935 pounds (1,785 kg) and completes the 0-62 mph sprint in just 4.6 seconds, en route to the same electronically limited maximum speed of 155 mph.
Mercedes says that the fuel efficiency of the SL 500 has been improved by 26% in comparison to the model it replaces, managing to return 30.7 mpg UK in the combined cycle, while CO2 emissions stand at 214 g/km.
Both versions of the SL come as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, leather sport seats, bi-xenon headlamps, Adaptive Brake system, Attention Assist system, along with heated adaptive wiper system (Magic Control).
