The Korean automaker Kia has published new photos of the all-new generation of the Cee’d which is scheduled to make its public debut next month during the Geneva Motor Show. The five-door hatchback has been developed for the European market and borrows a few of the styling ideas implemented in the new versions of the Rio and Optima models.
Compared to the Optima, the new wing-shaped grille in the Cee’d is more rounded, while the upswept lower front valence and the sculpted bonnet look similar. The new generation of the model brings wraparound headlamps as well as LED daytime running lights which as far as we know are now mandatory in the European Union.
In comparison to the model it replaces, the new Cee’d is longer, lower and wider, but the wheelbase has remained the same, resulting in a sporty profile that we totally like. As far as the interior cabin is concerned, Kia has focused on implementing materials of higher quality compared to the outgoing model, along with improving switchgear and enhancing driving position ergonomics. In addition, the new version of the hatchback will be offered with touchscreen technology for the more expensive versions of the car.
We don’t have any official details about the engines that will power the new generation of the Cee’d but it’s safe to assume that the car will be getting a lineup of 4-cylinder gasoline and diesel power units, along with both manual and automatic transmissions. We will be able to provide more information in March when the car will make an appearance at the Geneva show.
We are also eager to find out how the three-door version of the Cee’d looks like. Known as the pro cee’d, the sportier model will probably be launched later on this year. If we look at the differences between the hatchback and the three-door version of the current Cee’d, the new pro cee’d will probably look even more attractive than the model that it will be replacing.
