Aimed towards the more youthful customer base, Jeep has unveiled a new version of the Grand Cherokee. Wearing the “S Limited” moniker, the new edition of the company’s 4×4 flagship model emphasizes on the car’s sporty DNA and is a component of the firm’s lineup expansion for the European market, along with other models such as the Compass Black Edition and the Wrangler Mountain, both of which are limited editions.
The new version introduces an additional trim level to the current Laredo, Limited, Overland and top-spec SRT versions. It sits below the Overland as far as specifications are concerned, but it comes with more sporty accents for both the inside and the outside of the car. This edition of the Grand Cherokee adopts a black gloss front grille surround, along with black exhaust tips, headlamp bezels, while it sits on 20-inch black alloy wheels. At the back it has received a diffuser while the roof rack has been removed in order to make room for the roof moulding covers which provide the 4×4 with a more streamlined look.
Inside the cabin of this new Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited we find a heated steering wheel wrapped around in perforated leather, as well as ventilated Nappa leather and suede seats that have a sporty look. It also features racing-inspired pedals and a bunch of carbon fiber accents for the door trim panels and the instrument.
Under the hood you will find a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine that can produce 238 hp at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 406 lb.-ft which is reached between 1,800 and 2,800 rpm. This engine is also offered in a low-output version where it pumps out 187 hp at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 325 lb.-ft between 1,600 and 2,800 rpm. Both versions of the engine are mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
This new Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited will go on sale this September only in Europe. No details right now about the price list.
