At the end of last month, the German carmaker Alpina has revealed the 2012 B6 Bi-Turbo Coupe that is powered by an aluminum-built twin-turbo V8 4.4-liter engine. This power unit features a high-performance cooling system and MAHLE pistons, which allow it to develop 533 hp (540 PS / 397 kW) and 516 lb.-ft (700 Nm) of torque. This means that the coupe version is 33 hp more powerful than its cabrio sibling which was introduced in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The engine is linked to an updated 8-speed automatic gearbox and has an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system that enables the car to do the 0-62 mph sprint in only 4.4 seconds, en route to a top speed of 320 km/h.
The car also has been fitted with an aerodynamic kit that has a new front spoiler with a built-in carbon fiber splitter, along with a revised rear spoiler that can be fitted with an optional rear wing. As far as the suspension is concerned, the 2012 BMW Alpina B6 Bi-Turbo Coupe comes with Drive Performance Control and Dynamic Drive as standard. The first one stands for electronically adjustable dampers while the second system is active roll stabilization.
It rides on a new set of 20-inch Alpina Classic wheels that are wrapped around in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Inside the cabin it has blue illuminated side sills with the “Alpina” logo, a sport steering wheel hand-stitched in Lavalina leather, along with an Alpina myrtle wood trim.
